The Hobbit has always been a favorite since I was a
child. It was a natural choice for my display based on the Pumpkin
Walk's 2002 Theme, "Tell Me a Story".
What makes carved pumpkins fascinating is to be able to recognize an
image that has been carved into them. This year's display was a
challenge because I had a difficult time trying to find popular or
recognizable artwork to work from. I chose mostly Hildibrant's artwork
from early Tolkien Calanders.
See if you can recognize the following events from The Hobbit in the
pumpkins below:
Gandolf fighting off wargs. Gollum catching a fish. Beorn the Berseker.
Bilbo on the back of an eagle. Bilbo fighting the giant spiders. Smaug.
Bilbo writing "There and Back Again".
